We shall use the occasion of the publication of the IBE Occasional Paper entitled "A Review of the Ethical Aspects of Corporate Governance Regulation and Guidance in the EU" looking at what measures are possible, and what has been actually done, to encourage greater ethics and integrity in business at both corporate and, national and EU level. On the panel we have Philippa Foster Back, Director of the IBE, Roger Barker, Head of Corporate Governance at the UK Institute of Directors, Jeroen Hooijer, Head of Unit at DG Markt at the European Commission, and Julia Casson, Director of Board Insight Limited and author of the afore-mentioned report. Apart from a presentation on the report, we shall be looking at the nature of ethics, the objectives of governance and driving forces for ethical behaviour (yours truly), what company boards are currently doing and what initiatives are planned by the EU. It should be a very interesting discussion indeed, with perhaps some hard truths projected as a result of a pointed Q&A session!
